Program Overview

The WIC Program of the Huron County Health Department is a supplemental food program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Michigan Department of Community  Health.  WIC provides supplemental foods which promote good health for pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children up to the age of five. Participation in WIC is confidential.

Services Available

  • Nutrition education

    • Completing on-line nutrition education, recipes and helpful information: WIC Health

  • Breastfeeding education and support

  • Benefits for nutritious food items

  • Referrals for other health and social services

  • Health history evaluations

  • Blood test for anemia

  • Immunization screening

  • Counseling with a registered dietician for special needs including anemia, weight issues, etc.
