Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program

The Huron County Health Department's Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program is for low-income women aged 50 to 64 (Limited slots available for age 40 - 49).  The program includes a screening for early detection of breast or cervical cancer including pap tests, pelvic exams, clinical breast exams and mammograms.

General Information

Every year more than 1,600 Michigan women die from breast cancer and 160 women die from cervical cancer.  If you are not receiving regular breast and cervical cancer screening due to cost, you may qualify for no-cost screening through the Michigan Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program.  Participating clinics provide safe, reputable and thorough screening as well as follow-up care if needed.

Services Available

    Clinical breast exam
    Mammogram
    Pelvic exam
    Pap smear
    Some diagnostic tests, if needed
    If needed, treatment services will be available to women enrolled in the program regardless of their ability to pay.

Eligibility and Cost

Women who are 40 to 64 and meet the income guidelines may be eligible even if covered under a health insurance plan.  Please know that you will not meet the eligibility requirements if you are covered by Medicaid with a HMO or if you have Medicare Part B coverage.   

Services offered may be FREE to women who qualify.
